Digital Leaders Wales

The Digital Leaders Wales Programme is a new programme designed to empower a cohort of 50 senior decision makers from across the public, private and voluntary sectors in Wales to think and act strategically with regard to change management and efficient service delivery. The focus of the programme will be to up-skill participants by helping them to understand technology as a key enabler, harnessing the delivery of an inclusive, sustainable and prosperous society, covering the economy, public services, inclusion, skills and infrastructure.

This programme will seek to work alongside and complement the Digital Wales Strategy, to ensure people and businesses in Wales can capitalise on the multi-million pound opportunities of the digital age and maximise the social and economic benefits for all, including the following priority areas:

  • Reducing digital exclusion amongst adults from 34% to 25% by 2015;
  • Ensuring that the ICT skills of all pupils aged 14 to 16 are recognised in a formally accredited qualification;
  • Increasing the number of ICT businesses undertaking R&D and innovation and,
  • Ensuring next generation broadband at speeds of at least 30Mbps is available to all by 2020

Launched by Civic Agenda, the Digital Leaders Wales programme is born out of a dialogue with the Welsh Assembly Government and to help promote the delivery of a Digital Wales. It is being developed together by a steering group of partners who have played an important role in both shaping and contributing to the first year of the initiative. It will build on existing networks, connections best practice that have been developed in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government as Digital Government has risen up the political ladder over the past few years.


The Digital Leaders Wales Programme will be an invitation only programme that works with 50 decision makers from key public service delivery bodies across Wales across a range of backgrounds, as well as industry leaders, non-profit partners and those with an interest in digital delivery who can deliver change.
